Stratum is a Phoenix general contractor founded in 1998. Our name comes from the rock layers of the Grand Canyon, and so does our approach: strong foundations, careful work and results that last.

Who we are

A contractor built on repeat clients.

Daniel Reyes started Stratum with a crew of six, a borrowed job trailer and a simple promise: tell owners the truth about cost and schedule, then deliver on it. Twenty-eight years later, that promise still shapes how every project runs.

Today more than 180 builders, engineers and project managers deliver work across Arizona from our offices in Phoenix and Tucson. Most of it comes from clients who have hired us before, which is the only measure of success we really trust.

We don't win work with the lowest number. We win it with the number we can actually hit.

From a single tenant improvement downtown to the tallest building in our portfolio, here is how Stratum grew.

  1. 1998

    Founded in Phoenix

    Daniel Reyes opens Stratum with a crew of six and a single tenant improvement contract downtown.

  2. 2006

    First ground-up office building

    A four-story office building in Tempe launches a long run of commercial work across the Valley.

  3. 2012

    Design-build group launched

    We formalize our design-build practice with trusted architecture and engineering partners.

  4. 2018

    500 projects and a Tucson office

    We pass 500 completed projects and open a second office to serve Southern Arizona.

  5. 2024

    Meridian Tower tops out

    Our tallest building yet, the 21-story Meridian Tower, finishes three weeks ahead of schedule.

    Every superintendent and foreman holds OSHA 30 certification, renewed on a regular cycle.

    Summer schedules shift to early mornings and nights, with mandatory shade, rest and hydration breaks.

    Each shift starts with a task hazard analysis reviewed by the whole crew, not just supervisors.

  • Zero lost-time incidents in 2025

    More than 1.4 million labor hours last year without a single lost-time injury.

    Daniel founded Stratum in 1998 after fifteen years running field operations for national builders. He still walks every active job site at least once a month.

    Megan leads field operations, safety and our superintendent team. Under her watch, Stratum's safety record has become one of the strongest in the Southwest.
